Handskill Open Houses at The Artisans Guild let visitors try new skills without the expense of purchasing tools or committing to an all-day class. Stop in anytime during the day and watch the lead artisan practice their craft while you learn the basics, learn how to get started, and even try a new skill yourself.
Pennsylvania wood carver Dick Hetrick will be in our workshop demonstrating the key skills in spoon carving, answering questions, and showing visitors how easy it is to carve beautiful spoons. Dick has mentored under the noted David Fisher and exhibited at the Early American Artisans Fair in 2019.
There is no cost to attend (donations are always welcome and help us continue with events like this) and spoon blanks will be available for $5. Colonial Homestead, which hosts our classroom and workshop, has spoon carving tools in stock, but you’re always welcome to bring your own.
Stay a little or stay all day - hang out with other passionate spoon carvers and enjoy our mini spoon carving event.
